Learn from Napoleon
Friday's Memory Tip
I have posted about the importance of visualization. You certainly have heard the saying a picture is worth a thousand words. Napoleon, also believed in visualization. The French leader and one time Emperor said “A good sketch is better than a long speech.”
Our tip today to help you visualize better is add the Vowels to what you want to visualize:
A - Put your visual in Action. Your eyes and your mind are hard wired to see movement.
E - Exaggeration and Emotion. Emotionally charged events are remembered for a long time. Also if you want to remember to pick up eggs from the store, your image could include thousands of eggs or one huge egg. Both are exaggerations.
I - Make your image Illogical. Visualizations that are common place are not remembered but having an elephant juggling eggs with his trunk, might help you to remember to pick up the eggs for the store.
O - Make your image Outstanding. Make it stand out. The image must be special in some way.
U - One of the ways to do this is make your image Unusual. Again an unusual image will help you remember it better.
